NENC teams shine at Healthcare Science AwardsTeams from across North East and North Cumbria were celebrated at the North East and Yorkshire Healthcare Science Conference in July. The event included an awards ceremony that recognised people and teams making a difference in the NHS.
NENC had a strong showing, with four winners and one finalist.
Award winners Two teams from Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust were named joint winners in the Education and Training category.
The Cardiac Rhythm Management Team won for helping staff learn new skills through better training and support.
Nicola Norman and the Healthcare Science Masterclass Team also won. Their work helps young people learn about careers in healthcare science. The programme has helped many students understand the different jobs available in the NHS.
In the Hospital to Community category, Liz Berry from North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust took first place.
Liz has helped bring more testing and care closer to people's homes. Her work means patients can often get help faster and without travelling as far.
Finalist recognition Debra Jackson and the Blood Culture Team from Northumbria Healthcare were finalists in the Patient-Centred Care category.
The team improved the way blood tests are carried out. Their work has helped improve patient care and supported staff across the organisation.
Research and innovation success Richard Hardy and the Blood Sciences Team from Northumbria Healthcare won the Research and Innovation award.
The team improved the way samples are handled in laboratories. Their work has helped save time, improve services and support staff.
The same category also included finalist Dr Louise Hyslop from Newcastle Hospitals. Her work is helping families affected by rare inherited conditions.
Celebrating success The awards highlighted the hard work taking place across healthcare science services in North East and North Cumbria.
Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. Their work is helping improve care for patients and supporting NHS services across the region.
