Hub Optimisation Week in Action

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has completed its most successful Hub Optimisation Week yet. The work helped more patients get treatment sooner and made better use of operating theatres.


In the latest Providers Podcast, staff talk about the planning and teamwork behind the week's success. Guests include:

The podcast looks at several changes introduced during the week. These included a new standby patient system, more flexible working and digital tools to help theatre teams work more efficiently.

 

The results were impressive. Teams treated 160 patients in five days, including 59 extra patients who might otherwise have waited longer for care.

 

The episode also explores what the team learned and how these ideas could be used in the future. The changes could help more patients access treatment faster and improve care across the region.
