Medicines Manufacturing Centre achieves SHINE Foundation status

The Medicines Manufacturing Centre (MMC) is proud to announce that it has been awarded Foundation status through the North East Combined Authority SHINE programme.

This is an important achievement that reflects the organisation’s commitment to fairness, opportunity and respect in the workplace.

The SHINE programme celebrates employers that uphold the principles of good work. It recognises organisations that create an environment where staff feel valued, supported and encouraged to develop.

Achieving Foundation status marks a significant milestone for the MMC and highlights the positive progress already made to strengthen staff engagement, promote wellbeing and build a culture rooted in equality and opportunity for everyone.

The MMC will become a vital service for the region. It will produce high quality ready to administer injectable medicines. This will include chemotherapy, antibiotics and over labelled packs that help support faster and safer patient discharge.

By providing these essential medicines in a ready to use format, the centre will help reduce pressure on clinical teams and improve patient experience across health services.

This recognition also sets a strong platform for the next phase of development. The Medicines Manufacturing Centre will now work towards Advanced accreditation which represents the highest level within the SHINE programme.

Reaching that standard would further demonstrate the organisation’s ambition to be a regional leader in high quality employment and long-term opportunity.
