Connect NENC Hits Major Milestone with Over 3,000 Patient Referrals

Since its launch in late 2024, the region’s digital patient referral platform, Connect NENC, has facilitated more than 3,000 inter-hospital referrals, marking a significant step forward in modernising patient care.

Now fully adopted by all NHS Foundation Trusts across the region, the platform is actively used by over 2,800 healthcare professionals to refer patients across a growing number of specialties, including:

• Renal
• Renal Transplantation
• Hepato-Biliary Surgery
• Neurosurgery
• Spinal
• Intestinal Failure
• Vascular Surgery
• Burns

New specialties are being added each month, with Cardiology among the next to go live.

Connect NENC is replacing outdated and less secure referral methods such as paper forms, emails, and phone calls. By offering a secure, auditable, and efficient digital alternative, the platform is helping to improve the safety and coordination of care for complex patients across the region.
