North East and North Cumbria Surpass 70% for Planned Care Waiting Times – Leading the Nation Once Again

We’re proud to share that the latest NHS performance data for March 2025, published on 15 May, confirms that the North East and North Cumbria (NENC) region continues to lead the way in planned care waiting times.

For the fourth consecutive month, NENC providers have delivered the best waiting times in England—a testament to the dedication and resilience of our healthcare teams.

In a significant achievement, our collective performance against the 18-week NHS Constitutional Standard for planned care has reached 70.2%—the first time we’ve surpassed the 70% mark since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a remarkable improvement compared to the national average of 59.8%, and it reflects the region’s unwavering commitment to improving access to care.
